A personal archive for learning AI — quiet craft, a timeline, and room to compound.

This is the first note on Duskworks. The site exists so learning doesn’t evaporate into chat scrolls and half-finished tabs.

The plan is simple: write short notes when something clicks, longer essays when an idea needs space, and keep experiments, projects, and tools in the same stream so the path stays visible.

Here is a second paragepah

What “quiet craft” means for a learning site

Restraint as a design standard — fewer surfaces, stronger type, no AI-agency costume.

Most AI learning sites borrow the wrong clothes: dark canvases, gold accents, glow, cards everywhere. That look sells a product launch. It does not help you think.

Quiet craft is the opposite bet.

One composition

The homepage is not a dashboard. It is a name, one sentence of intent, and a timeline. If a section does not earn its place in that composition, it does not ship.

Type does the work

Display type carries identity. Body type carries reading. Meta type stays small and precise. Accent color is rare — links, focus, a type label — never wallpaper.

The timeline is the idea

Learning is sequential. A timeline makes sequence legible without turning every entry into a card. Date and type sit quietly; the title is the hit.

This essay is a stake in the ground. The rest of the archive will test whether the system holds.

Treating a model like a sparring partner — tight loops, written conclusions, no endless chat.

Hypothesis: short, deliberate prompt loops beat long freeform chats for learning retention.

Method

State one question in a single sentence.

Ask for a counter-argument, not a summary.

Rewrite the answer in my own words offline.

Log what changed in my mental model.

Early read

The forcing function is step 3. If I cannot rewrite it, I did not learn it — I only consumed it.

Q → challenge → rewrite → log

Next: run this for a week on one topic (embeddings) and compare notes density to unstructured chat.
